The Society is run by an elected Council comprising the President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Secretary who are also Trustees.

Additionally there is a Journal Editor, Journal Design and Production Manager, Newsletter Editor and Conservation Officer. These positions are appointed by the Council.
The Society also has Field Trip Organisers based around the country who take the lead in arranging field trips in their regions.
